How The Ndis Finances Transportation?

Transportation Assistance

Transportation is a vital aspect of freedom and independence because it allows you to see friends, get to work, and travel around town. Let’s look at the four ways the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) can support transportation and hear some transportation advice from our staff.

Getting Around
Suppose your disability makes it difficult or impossible for you to utilize public transportation. In that case, the NDIS may find that it is reasonable and essential to offer money for taxis, rideshares, community transportation, and other appropriate modes of transportation.

The travel allowance provided by the NDIS each year is determined by your specific situation and how frequently you work or study.

How Does the Services Increase Mobility?

Personal Care

You most likely qualify for funding for various mobility aids if your condition limits your mobility and you are approved for NDIS funding.

Your ability to move around safely will be made easier with the help of mobility assistance from NDIS support providers. Electric scooters, power chairs, wheelchairs, and equipment for vehicle transfers are a few examples of mobility aids.

Depending on your impairment, the specific mobility assistance that the NDIS will pay for must be “reasonable and necessary” to help you go about your daily life.

Before funds are granted to purchase the equipment, an AT evaluation may be necessary depending on whether the exact mobility equipment you need is considered high-risk or low-risk.

  • For persons with autism, noise-cancelling headphones help reduce sensory overload
  • Smart home technology for those with hearing or mobility impairments
  • Smart devices such as smartwatches, which track heart rate, location, and falls
  • Other communication-aiding tools include tablets, software, and other devices
