"Are you finding it hard to be currently working with your NDIS provider?"

We hear from a lot of participants that don’t get the right NDIS support to meet their goals and objections to live independently.

Your NDIS plan is intended to assist you in achieving your objectives, and your NDIS provider is there to assist you in obtaining the supports and services that are best suited to your unique circumstances. Of course, if your circumstances change or you are dissatisfied with your current service provider, you may decide to switch.

QUICK LINKS

You have the freedom to choose another NDIS disability service provider and to directly control the care that is provided to you and how it affects your life.

Your requirements may differ from those of others. It is up to you to decide whether you need assistance with your health and well-being, education, or employment, or if you want assistance with social activities or living independently.

Why should I think about switching NDIS providers?

Consider changing your NDIS service provider in the following situations like you have relocated and would prefer a provider who is closer to you. Your objectives have shifted, and your provider no longer offers services and supports that are appropriate for your situation. Your service provider’s service plans have changed and they no longer provide services and supports that meet your needs. You are dissatisfied with how your service provider provides their services.

Once you’ve found the types of services that may help you achieve your goals, it’s time to find out more about the providers in your area and whether they are right for you. Your early childhood partner, local area coordinator or support coordinator can help you.

Before you agree to work with a provider, you might want to research their services on the internet, check reviews, get advice from friends or family and speak with different providers either face-to-face or over the phone.

How do I switch NDIS providers?

You are not required to explain to your current service provider why you want to switch to another provider.

Before you begin the process of switching NDIS providers, you should review your NDIS service agreement. This will give you information about things such as how much notice you have to give your provider before you switch to another, or if you have to pay cancellation costs.

FAQS

The NDIS provides funding to eligible people based on their individual needs.

A provider is an individual or organisation delivering a support or a product to an NDIS participant. Organisations or individuals can apply to be a registered NDIS provider with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS Commission).

Under the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, registered providers must meet the NDIS Practice Standards. Both registered and unregistered providers must adhere to the NDIS Code of Conduct.

Further information can be found on the NDIS Commission’s website
To find NDIS registered providers you can search the Provider Finder here or when you are on the myplace portal. The Provider finder animation explains how to use the Provider finder.

The NDIS Market Report provides insight into potential hot spots where investment might be required to better support participants. This report also shows where the NDIA is intervening in market hot spots to support participants to receive services.

Step 1: Talk to your current NDIS service provider.
Step 2: Look over your service agreement.
Step 3: End the service agreement.
Step 4: End your service booking on the MyPlace portal.
Step 5: Find your new NDIS service provider.

Unregistered providers (such as a common cleaner or gardener) will send you invoices to pay. You must then manually claim the funding from the NDIS using the NDIS interface.
